Contract has been signed!

Hi Guys

APRIL

so finally our land has been registered and we are now officially landowners!! I guess we just need a tent and portaloo and we can comfortably move into our block of land... mmm maybe not...
Contract was signed a few weeks ago.. and we were then given appointments for the following:

 - Colours Appointment to choose all interior and exterior options to the house. This also included a very rushed and quick Kitchen Appointment, staircase appointment
 - Air conditioning appointment.
 - Electrical appointment - to go over all data cabling and lighting for the house
- Tiling appointment  - for all bathrooms and tiling for kitchen/laundry room

We were also appointed a CSR (Customer rep) for all queries now to Clarendon .. and so far has not been a smooth ride. Any requests for changes have not been answered and lost in voicemail messages and emails not being responded to. A simple request for prices for a sliding door to add to our rumpus room has now been 3 weeks and still going. A far change from the super efficient service we received during the pre contract signing days!

Next steps are to obtain a landscape plan to submit to council and stormwater plans to finalise. We just had our colours and airconditioning appointments..

COLOURS APPOINTMENT:

Now this was a LONG day and in my humble opinion was very very rushed. Should have done this over 2 days so that we could gather our thoughts well and review all options at the meeting. This way we could have avoided coming home and thinking of other options and waiting for price estimates.. which just delayed things further.

Kitchens

The company that does this is Your Home Kitchens.. tried to google them but didnt find any websites so guessing they may be a small tradie. We met with Richard for our 2 hour appointments where we designed all the cabinetry and benchtops and drawers and applicances for our kitchen. We also have a Butler's Kitchen (2nd small Kitchen) for all the heavy cooking and cleaning ... i guess this is where all the mess will be.. We ended up going for :

Polytec cabinet doors - in BLACK WENGE (timber look )
Quantam quartz stone benchtop in 20m in NEW DIAMOND WHITE
all SMEG appliances

New Diamond White benchtop..

I guess we are after a very chocolate brown effect of cabinets against a white finish... As  I mentioned before it was a very rushed appointment and to be honest there is so much information and things to consider it really is too much to think about at the meeting. The good thing is you dont have to make decisions then and there but just list of options to consider so that they can give you pricing of all items you pick and then decide which ones to take.

Our 3 bathrooms will also have the same benchtop and cabinets too.

External Appointment

So this is where we get to design the exterior look of the house. BRICKS, ROOF, DOOR, BALUSTRADES, WINDOWS, GUTTERS, GARAGE etc..

We went with :

Brick: - Austral Everyday Range - Leisure
Roof - Boral Concrete tiles -in slimline design. Colour is Storm Grey
everything else is a dark grey colour in Colorbond Woodland Grey.
Garage is a timber look called 'CAOBA'

Everyday Life Bricks Leisure Main Image

Roof is :

Storm grey but in Slimline design

Windows and Balustrades and gutters/downpipes in Colourbond woodland grey

Timber look Garage

We are thinking of wall cladding with stone tiles to the exterior brickwork but this will be done after handover as the prices they have quoted seemed way too high! our list of things to do after handover is getting larger all the time..

Interiors is the next update.. and this is a lot of information so will post it another day for now!

Welcome to our blog! This blog is all about our journey with Clarendon Homes to build our first new house in the Hills District in Sydney. We will share our experience with you all (positives and negatives). The house is called Sherwood 37 and is to be built on a sloping lot size of 700m2...

So far we are still awaiting registration of our land and in the meantime our tender has been paid for. Just waiting on the contract. Have to say we made numerous changes to the house design.. and we still have a long way to go yet!

Our experience with Clarendon so far has been positive and our sales representative has been very forthcoming and helpful with all our queries and requests. Hope the rest of the process is as good!

Hope to be back soon to write more details on the next stage... CONTRACT SIGNING!!!
